Redefine Insanity and Reach for the Sane

Albert Einstein once said, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”

I have a new definition of insanity.  Mine says the definition of insanity is doing the same thing in a new climate and expecting the same results.  Are you staying current in your business, your life, your tools, and your practices?

We all need to accept the world around us changes and, if we don’t change with it, we will be left behind. Imagine if you fell asleep 25 years ago and woke up today to find cell phones, the internet, streaming music, and social networking.  How would you even function?

Here are three ways to keep yourself and your skills current:

  1. Embrace new technology when it makes sense.  The speed of technology can make one dizzy, but that doesn’t mean we can jump off the ride.  Many tools improve our lives, and we need to look for them.
  2. Keep up your education. Common characteristics among lifelong learners are knowledge of their interests, regular goal setting, and the ability to seek resources—all highly successful traits.
  3. Don’t continue to do things the way you have always done them.  Continually reevaluate your methods and fine-tune them.

Calm your mind, focus your efforts, and become just a little less insane!
